Remi Lacroix

Remi Lacroix - Fine Artist

Boucherville, Quebec - Canada

A passionate painter, Rémi Lacroix has had a love for drawing since childhood. He studied drawing and sculpting in the 1990s, then started classes at the Silvia Araya Academy in 1998, where he indulged in his passion for figurative painting. With Juan Cristobal, artist and painter, he learned, through the technique of dry pastel, to master the art of managing lights and shadows.
Eager to learn and interested in the outside world, he endeavoured to satisfy his thirst for knowledge by reading a lot and studying the art of many contemporary masters, which brought multiple clues to his many questions.

He took part in many workshops with Juan Cristobel, Denis Jacques, Anne Lemieux, Eddy Dion, Humberto Pinochet, Silvia Araya, Max Stiebel and Pamela Carter, which reinforced his knowledge and broadened his horizons.

He became more and more fascinated with the art of painting, and decided, in 2003, to take a sabbatical in order to devote himself full-time to his art, to further his technique of pastels and find his own style. He was already considered at the time an accomplished pastelist.

He has been awarded several prizes and honorary mentions for his work with pastels during exhibitions organised by the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada (PSEC), of which he is a signatory member. But his preference goes to landscapes, which he can freely approach with all his poetic potential but he also likes painting still life, where he can totally express his creativity, as well as scenes from everyday life, for their sensuality and their expressiveness and human character.

His creativity is fuelled by raw emotions and intensity. He is an artist who strives on passion, sensitivity and a strong love for life. He firmly believes that love, passion, perseverance and the faculty to have faith in the Universe can make any dream come true.
